Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator Jamming Arcades With Jam Kuraboderi

August 17, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Johnny’s coming back too, along with a new character, Jack-O.

Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator is bringing back one of the franchise’s most popular characters. Welcome back Jam Kuraboderi!

This update to Guilty Gear Xrd is arcade only for now, but based on Arc System Works’ previous track record, it’s coming to home consoles soon after arcade fans play it for further revision. Of course, as is fighting game convention, this version rebalances the characters.

Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator also introduces a new Stylish Mode, reminiscent of Persona 4 Arena’s Simple Mode. Pressing a single button repeatedly will allow you to execute a combo, special, and Overdrive moves in quick succession. Persona 4 Arena has proven that this lowers the execution bar, but doesn’t completely remove the game’s complexity or the quality of high level play.

Returning character Jam Kuraboderi is one of the more lighthearted characters, but you probably couldn’t tell this from the gameplay. In story, she is a chef and highly skilled martial arts fighter, who is only tangentially involved in the search for the Gears, but proves to be a character of interest because of her Ki-powered fighting ability. In-game, Jam is great for players who love to execute combos and go for a rushdown style.

Jam is coming back with a now-playable Johnny Sfondi, as well as a new character, and That Man’s latest underling, Jack-O. Check out Jam’s announce trailer for Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator above. Vanilla Guilty Gear Xrd is available now on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
