Shin Megami Tensei V has sold over 1 million copies across the world, it has been revealed. The RPG game, which was released only last November, has proved to be a hit for ATLUS. Shin Megami Tensei V is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, and despite fans having to wait quite a while for its release, the game has been well-received by both players and critics alike.
The incredible sales figures, which account for both digital and physical copies of the game, have been marked by developers ATLUS West in a tweet posted earlier today. The tweet also featured some new character art for fans to enjoy by Character Designer Masayuki Doi, to mark the milestone.
Considering that this game has only been on sale for around five months and only on one gaming platform, these figures are pretty impressive. In Shin Megami Tensei V, players must navigate the horrors of a post-apocalyptic landscape set in both Tokyo and the game’s Netherworld. Players take on the role of an ordinary high-school student who must get to grips with a range of newfound powers whilst trying to navigate this strange new world.
It’s fair to say that the game has so far been a huge success for ATLUS if these numbers are anything to go by. In addition to this, the game currently has a Metascore of 84 on Metacritic, with many major outlets praising its compelling gameplay and well-crafted RPG elements.
Reaction online has reflected the game’s popularity, with many Twitter users congratulating the developers on their “well-deserved” sales figures.
Whether or not this popular Switch game will ever be accessible on other platforms, remains to be seen. However, it’s clear to see that the game’s strong fanbase is holding out hope for the game to be ported to PC or console at some point in the future. We’ll have to wait and see to find out if that happens.
Shin Megami Tensei V is available now on Nintendo Switch.
