During Sony's Play Live panel at the Tokyo Game Show, Final Fantasy XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase shed some light on the upcoming JRPG's downloadable content.
The DLC will apparently add more more costumes, weapons, and monsters to the game. It's still unclear whether these items will be introduced as standalone purchases or as part of a story expansion, but Kitase was quick to assure fans that Square-Enix won't be sacrificing on-disc content in pursuing the DLC model. The base game will be more than enough to satisfy fans, the producer said, with the extras merely extending the experience.
Kitase also announced that the game will feature an amusement center filled with casino-style mini games and Chocobo racing. I, for one, am still holding out for a full fleged sequel to 1999's PSX masterpiece, Chocobo Racing, but I suppose this is a step in the right direction.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be hitting Japanese retailers December 15 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The rest of the world wil have to wait until next year, with North America's launch coming January 31 and Europe's slated for February 3.
