Metal Gear Solid 5’s Mother Base Explained in 30 Minute Gameplay Video

August 6, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Mother Base management 101.

Konami has released a 30 minute gameplay demo of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain during gamescom, which explores the game's Mother Base.

Players can expand their Mother Base and develop their Diamond Dogs to unlock new abilities and equipment which can be deployed in the field. When away from the base, you can request intel, first aid drops, and supplies. It's possible to leave your Mother Base in the capable hands of Miller, your second-in-command, or take charge and micromanage everything but no matter which you choose, it's worth investing in your base.

Using the Fulton Recovery Device in the field, you can strap a balloon to weapons, soldiers, vehicles, and even animals to see them transported back to base.

There's plenty more in the video, including base invasions, so check it out about. Konami also released a new trailer for the game, which you can see here.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be released on September 1st for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
