Microsoft’s Xbox Mentoring Program gets underway today and is now open for registrations. In a new post on Xbox Wire, the company explain their innovative mentoring scheme, which was first announced in March as part of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month 2022.
This new Xbox Mentoring Program is aimed at women in gaming careers, and those who want to get into the world of gaming as a career path. The idea behind it is to connect those who aspire to start or further their gaming career with women currently working as leaders in their respective fields across the Xbox roster of talent. Through the scheme, successful applicants will have the opportunity to access 1:1 mentoring and coaching sessions with key figures from across Xbox’s network of studios.
These mentors will be specific to a set of varied global locales, to ensure that applicants in different countries can access the most relevant kind of support and coaching for their geographic area. The eligible regions are listed as being the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Japan, and Korea. Additional areas are expected to be added to this list.
The list of mentors provided so far includes talented leaders across various gaming career fields. They include a producer, executive producer, business lead, social marketing manager, esports host, category manager, communications manager and an Xbox regional director. It’s clear that Xbox is committed to opening doorways to support women in gaming careers, and this program is a great way of demonstrating that commitment in a tangible way.
Registration is now open for those interested in taking part in the Xbox Mentoring Program. You can find out more details and information about each specific mentor over at the Xbox Mentoring website. Registrations are being accepted until April 6th, so if you’d like to get involved, make sure you sign up as soon as possible.
