The Star Wars franchise as a whole has been going through a monumental shift if you will. That shift being that it’s gone from being focused solely on movies (and the occasional epic animated series) to being all about Disney+ series. We’ve already gotten two seasons of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett arrived late last year, and more series like Ashoka, The Acolyte and more are on the way. But there was another series that was announced a long time ago in a galaxy not so far away that we haven’t had an update on yet. And that would be the Lando series starring Donald Glover.
Donald Glover was actually asked about this on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and he had this to say on things:
“Am I? [You’re] just telling all my business … No, yeah, I have a lot of things. I like to blossom, and then go away … And right now it’s definitely the start of another one of those. I have like a ton of stuff I’ve been working on, but I just wanted it all to come out at the same time. I feel like that’s what’s important to me.”
So yeah, not exactly a “committal” wouldn’t you say? It’s honestly a little telling that he doesn’t have a serious update because it’s one of the few Star Wars series that hasn’t gotten a serious talking about via Disney.
Glover played Lando in “Solo: A Star Wars Story”, a film many consider one of the worst films in the franchise. But, one of the biggest highlights in the minds of many was that of Glover as Lando, who played him perfectly, thus why people are more than up for him having his own series.
But whether that’s still in the cards (that Lando cheats in) we’ll just have to see.
