Aspiring Phantom Thieves, take note: Persona 5 will be leaving the PlayStation Plus Collection on May 11, 2022. In the newest PlayStation blog post confirming the April 2022 PlayStation Plus games, Sony made it official that the massively popular JRPG would be leaving the service in just six short weeks.
Players adding the game to their library before the game is removed will still be able to play it, so long as they maintain an active PS Plus subscription.
The PlayStation Plus Collection brings together some of the greatest games released for the PlayStation 4, including Fallout 4, Final Fantasy XV, and Monster Hunter World. The service launched alongside the release of the PlayStation 5 in November 2020.
Yesterday, Sony officially announced that PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now would be merged together in a new three-tier service model. The updated service is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in June. Those paying for the highest tier will be able to access a library of nearly 700 games, including those for PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and the PSP.
Persona developer Atlus is very busy. In July 2021, the company announced that it had 10 projects currently in development.
Earlier this month, a new piece of artwork released for the Persona 25th anniversary event got fans excited, thanks to what may be a hint at Persona 6. Atlus and Sega have been celebrating the series’ anniversary for months, with players in Japan enjoying collaboration cafes and tons of new merchandise.
The Persona 25th anniversary event will take over the Tokorozawa Sakura Town complex in Saitama, Japan from May 28 until July 10, 2022. The event will feature artwork pulled from the entire series, as well as recreations of some of its most famous locations.
Persona 5 was first released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan in September 2016 and worldwide in April 2017. An enhanced version featuring new content, Persona 5 Royal, was released for the PlayStation 4 in Japan in October 2019 and worldwide in March 2020.
