Son’s of the Forest will release later this year after a five-month delay. The Forest sequel was first announced a few years ago but has run into production problems due to the pandemic. Just last week, the game was delayed from May 2022 to October 2022, so fans will have to wait a while longer for the survival horror game.
2018’s The Forest first launched on PC in April with the PS4 version released later that year in November. While Xbox users have hoped for the game to come to their consoles, it still has not. Meaning, that Sons of the Forest most likely won’t make its way to the Microsft gaming platform either. In anticipation of the sequel’s release, gamers are now wondering, what platforms will the game be available on, and will it be crossplay? Will you be able to play Sons of the Forest with friends on different consoles?
While The Forest was released on PC and PS4, Sons of the Forest has only been announced for PC so far. This effectively answers the question of if the game will have crossplay or not as it will only launch on one platform. This doesn’t mean it won’t come to consoles later though. The Forest was released on PS4 seven months after it debuted on PC. However, this does not mean it will have crossplay.
Although The Forest is available on PC and PlayStation consoles, it does not offer crossplay. This is a pretty good indicator that Sons of the Forest will similarly not support crossplay if it ever does go to other consoles. Anything is possible with a new game release though. Sons of the Forest could go in a completely different direction from the first game and not only offer crossplay, but later release on Xbox consoles. Although, it is unlikely. This is probably a plan for the worst but hope for the best situation.
