Sony has finally announced its long-awaited competitor to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service. PlayStation Plus will be combined with PlayStation Now from June to offer customers a single enhanced service. The current PlayStation Plus subscription has been renamed to “PlayStation Plus Essential” and will remain at the same price. Two new tiers will be made available above the current subscription. PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium.
The new service is priced competitively with Xbox Game Pass. Currently, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs $14.99 per month for online play and the Game Pass library. PlayStation Plus Extra gives gamers access to “up to 400” PlayStation exclusive and third-party titles as well as the original PlayStation Plus benefits for the same $14.99 price point. PlayStation Plus Premium adds in over 300 more games from previous generations of PlayStation as a mixture of streaming and downloadable titles.
