Guild Wars 2’s Asura Race Inhabits a Giant Floating Cube

September 16, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Explore the interior passages of the giant floating cube city of Rata Sum in this new Guild Wars 2 trailer.

ArenaNet has been putting out quite a bit of information about its upcoming MMORPG over the past few weeks. The latest exposé is of Guild Wars 2's Asura race. While the miniature puppy-like creatures were formerly in the first Guild Wars as little more than NPCs, they'll be fully playable in the upcoming sequel.

The new trailer shows off the Asura's mighty city of Rata Sum, a huge floating cube not unlike the Borg space ship in one of the Star Trek movies. Instead of being filled with a murderous race of sentient machines, the city's filled with the scientifically-inclined Asura and their mechanized automatons. The cube itself is riddled with vibrant interior passages that make the homes, workplaces and laboratories of the Asura. All in all, a very pretty sight to look at.

NCSoft is set to publish Guild Wars 2 in 2012, exclusively on the PC.
