It’s been announced that the Oscar-nominated actress Jessie Buckley will star in the next instalment of The Dark Pictures Anthology. Supermassive Games and The Dark Pictures‘ official Twitter accounts have both shared the exciting news, which confirms that the next Dark Pictures Anthology game will feature the actress in what looks to be the starring role.
Buckley, who was nominated at last night’s 94th annual Oscars in the Best Supporting Actor category, will take on the role of Kate Wilder in The Dark Pictures: The Devil In Me. She was nominated for the Oscar for her role in The Lost Daughter.
Fans of The Dark Pictures Anthology series will know that the titles are used to having some big names in their games’ starring roles. The Dark Pictures: Man Of Medan featured X-Men actor Shawn Ashmore in the starring role. In Little Hope, actor Will Poulter took on the mantle of the game’s protagonist and in the most recent chapter of the anthology series, House Of Ashes, actress Ashley Tisdale starred in the lead role of CIA field officer Rachel King.
Jessie Buckley will be the first Oscar-nominated actress to take on a role in the series, although there’s still not a lot of information available on The Devil In Me. We do know that it will be a direct sequel to the events of House Of Ashes and will follow a crew of documentary makers as they take a tour of a replica of an H. H Holmes murder castle.
While we’re not sure exactly how Buckley’s character will feature just yet, it’s fair to say that fans are excited at the announcement. Creepy stalker vibes, murder mansion setting and one of the most popular actresses of the moment? Seems like The Devil In Me could be a smash hit combination when it launches later this year.
