Lightsabers Reportedly Returning To Fortnite

March 28, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

According to a Fortnite dataminer, we could soon see the return of Lightsabers in Fortnite. Chapter 3, Season 2 has only been live for a week and already we’re seeing speculation about potential crossover content.

As reported in Gamespot, the latest information comes courtesy of Fortnite dataminer LunakisLeaks. According to them, four of the iconic Lightsabers from Star Wars will be making a return to the famous Battle Royale island in an upcoming update.

This won’t be the first time we’ll have had our hands on these legendary weapons. Way back in 2019 we saw the introduction of the iconic colour coded blades. The lightsabers also came back for Star Wars Day in 2020. If the leaked news turns out to be true, then players can expect to wield the red crossguard of Kylo Ren, Rey’s blue energy blade, Luke’s green lightsaber and the purple-hued blade of Mace Windu.

While the Fortnite community will clearly be glad to see these lightsabers make a comeback, many of the responses on Twitter have raised a valid point about their usage. It seems that for many players, the blades, while awesome to wield when slashing down opponents, would actually be better suited as pickaxes than limited-time weapons.

How exactly the lightsabers will make their return and in what format is not yet known. However, it is exciting to see yet more crossover content making its way, or returning, in this case, to Fortnite for Chapter 2.

It is believed that we may see the lightsabers make their return around the window of early May. This would be to coincide with Star Wars Day, on May 4th, but also to mark the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show that’s also scheduled to release in May this year. For now, we’ll have to wait and see when the force makes its presence fully felt once more in Fortnite.
