Nintendo has given fans even more reason to look forward to Super Mario Maker, as they shared the one thing we wanted to hear about amiibo.
Nintendo has revealed the Costume Mario costumes, unlockable by tapping the respective amiibo, can be unlocked without the amiibo. You will get each costume one by one from the 100 Mario Challenge.
There will be a staggering 99 costumes unlockable, connected to every figure type amiibo. This includes the Smash amiibo, Mario series amiibo, Yarn Yoshi, even the Pokemon amiibo and Chibi-Robo. They will also be compatible with some Animal Crossing cards.
On the creating end, you will be able to save 120 stages. No word if each user under a single Wii U will get separate saves.
The download version will be 1.4 GB, and of course there will be an electronic manual, but for a game like Super Mario Maker, nothing beats a physical manual. The West will get physical manuals bundled on the retail version, but in Japan, Nintendo will be selling the manual online to anyone who bought the digital version. There will also be a pdf version of the manual.
Lastly, and as a nod to backwards compatibility, Super Mario Maker will be compatible with the WiiMote, the Pro Controller, and the Wii Classic Controller.
Super Mario Maker will be released exclusively for the Wii U in Japan on September 10, and the rest of the world the day after.
