There is a ton of excitement and anticipation over The Witcher franchise. We know a new game is in the works! Just yesterday, a blog post from development studio CD Projekt Red confirmed the development team is pursuing the next installment to The Witcher. However, the post itself focused on the fact that CD Projekt Red is using Unreal Engine 5 for game development.
Fortunately, there was one small marketing material for the upcoming project. Besides the behind-the-scenes information regarding the game development, we have an image. There was an image of a medallion that looked quite a bit like a Lynx. Naturally, this has sparked a hot topic of conversation online. Fans quickly pointed out the similarities between this medallion from the official CD Projekt Red blog post and a fan fiction logo.
There’s no official School of Lyx in the video game franchise. That came from a popular fan fiction piece that has some fans wondering if CD Projekt Red is tapping into the fan base community. This could be an idea that CD Projekt Red felt was too good to pass up. Unfortunately, there’s nothing official to showcase further if this is the pathway the development team over at CD Projekt Red is actually taking.
With that said, there was a slight nod to the medallion similarities from CD Projekt Red community director Marcin Momot. Marcin replied to a fan on Twitter that agrees the medallion looks like a Lynx. For now, this is going to be a long waiting game for official details regarding The Witcher 4. At the moment, there is still quite a bit of focus for CD Projekt Red when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077. We know that the developers are still pushing out patches into the game while also working on the first major expansion.
