A brand new inside look at Forspoken has dropped on YouTube. In the clip from Game Informer, those curious to see what the upcoming action role-playing game is all about are able to get a first look at some of the combat. The video looks exclusively at some of the enemies players can expect to encounter in Forspoken, as well as a look at one of the game’s mini-bosses. The footage is PlayStation 5 development footage and is all in glorious 4K, no less.
In the six and a half minute long video, we can see some of the slick-looking movement and combat mechanics employed by Forspoken’s protagonist, Frey Holland. In her quest to get home to New York and save the fantasy world of Athia while doing so, Frey is clearly able to utilise a variety of traversal and high-velocity combat tactics when dealing with enemies. Additionally, the clip shines a bit more light on the range of spells and magic powers available to players when engaging in enemy combat.
The video does a great job of demonstrating the huge range of motion available to the player as Frey, and gives fans another insider glimpse at the stunning visuals Forspoken looks set to bring to the PlayStation 5 and PC when it launches in October.
In addition, the clip gives fans an insight into some of the fantastical, corrupted creatures they’ll encounter in the game’s open-world design. This corruption isn’t solely limited to the animal population of Athia, as it’s also shown in the video what the previously human inhabitants of this fantasy world have also become.
Expectations and anticipation levels are high for Forspoken, especially off the back of the most recent sprawling, open-world games that have recently been dominating the games market. It’ll be exciting to see how Forspoken measures up when it launches later this year.
