Gears of War Ultimate Edition Goes Gold, Gets Trailered

July 24, 2015 by Stephen Daly

See the game’s opening cinematic.

Gears of War Ultimate Edition has gone gold ahead of its release on August 25th and Microsoft has marked the occasion by releasing the game's opening cinematic.

Xbox One owners now have the option to pre-order and download the game onto their system, meaning it'll be ready to go come launch day.

Ultimate Edition comes in two flavours, the standard editions for $39.99 and the Deluxe Edition for $59.99. Both options offer Adam Fenix and Civilian Anya multiplayer skins, as well as the Animated Ilumsion Weapon Skin, while the latter includes the Deluxe Weapon Skin Pack which offers 36 standard Weapon Skins and 10 Animated Weapons Skins. The Deluxe Edition also features Civilian Marcus Fenix and Aaron Griffin multiplayer skins.

Gears of War developer The Coalition has also launched a new series of videos, the first of which you can see below. The video offers a behind-the-scenes look at how they readied the game for a new console.

In the first, The Coalition examines how they remastered the game in 1080p and created 60fps competitive multiplayer.

Gears of War Ultimate Edition launches on August 25th on Xbox One and at a later yet-to-be-announced date on PC.
