Square Enix has released a couple of new screenshots for the recently-announced Dragon Quest Builders.
The screenshots depict a playable character smashing terrain and fleeing from enemies in Alefgard, the setting of the original Dragon Quest. Players will be collecting several types of resources that include rock, fruit, plantlife, wood, slime ooze, and more. Additionally, using the materials gathered, players will be able to build a fort where NPC citizens can stay.
As revealed by the original announcement, players will be tasked with rebuilding Alefgard after the Dragon King has destroyed it. It is currently scheduled for release in Japan this winter on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. No word on if there will be a release outside of Japan.
Prior to the announcement of Dragon Quest Builders, Square Enix had teased that the Dragon Quest franchise might be returning to the PlayStation platform. While fans had hoped this tease was pointing to Dragon Quest XI coming to a PlayStation platform, the announcement of Dragon Quest Builders suggests that will not be the case.
