A new trailer for Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, featuring associate producer Liam O’Neill and game designer Victor Magnuson from independent developer Fatshark talking about the combat and loot system in the game was released today.
The trailer, “Inside the Vermintide Part 1,” cuts between O’Neill and Magnuson as they talk up the emphasis placed on melee combat in Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide while also noting the flexibility in switching from melee combat to ranged combat, should the situation arise where one would be more useful than the other.
“Let’s say I’m fighting a group of Skaven, [the primary enemy in Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide],” Magnuson said. “I’m using my melee weapons and all of a sudden, if one of my friends gets grabbed by a pack master, I quickly have to change my melee weapons to my ranged weapon, snipe the pack master, and then go back to my melee weapons again and keep fighting.”
The loot system is also designed in a way that will not favor any one member of the group as it is a co-op action-adventure game.
“Everybody in the game gets rewarded equally independent on how you preform to not single out a player because he had got the most headshots or anything like that,” Magnuson said.
Recently, Fatshark put out a call to fans to name a great sword in the game. The entrant of winning name for the sword will get their name in the credits of the game and a free copy for PC.
The fifth and final playable character, the Bright Wizard, was also unveiled earlier this month. She joins the rest of the group, which consists of a Witch Hunter, a Dwarf Ranger, a Waywatcher, and an Empire Soldier.
