If Elden Ring won over the hearts of critics, gamers seem also fond of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s latest title. According to a recent study of The NPD Group regarding the United States gaming market, Elden Ring is breaking all records in 2022. It is both the best-selling game of February 2022 as well as 2022 year-to-date.
The launch month sales of Elden Ring were the second highest for any tracked title released in the past 12 months. The only game still ahead of Elden Ring is Call of Duty: Vanguard, which came out in November 2021.
After only one month on the market, Elden Ring already ranks as the 5th best-selling game of the past 12 months. The game was highly anticipated and met huge success, ranking 1st on Steam and Xbox platforms in February. Elden Ring also performed well on PlayStation, placing 2nd, right behind Horizon: Forbidden West.
Elden Ring came out on February 25, only three days before the end of the period mentioned in this report. If the sales are already impressive, the game should continue to perform well in the upcoming weeks, setting new records in the game industry.
Elden Ring is the latest game from game developer FromSoftware, who signed the Dark Souls series. Hidetaka Miyazaki collaborated with George R. R. Martin, the novelist behind A Song of Ice and Fire, which inspired the TV series Game of Thrones. Elden Ring has a score of 96 on Metacritic, one of the higest rankings of the year so far.
