If a pair of job postings on Gamasutra are to be believed, LucasArts may currently be developing a new first-person shooter. The listings — one for a Level Designer and the other for an Environment Artist — both place a hefty emphasis on experience working within the FPS genre.
Given the studio's history, the most likely conclusion is that LucasArts is hard at work prepping another entry in the Dark Forces series. Star Wars: Dark Forces was released in 1995 to critical acclaim, and the title later spawned the much beloved Jedi Knight and Jedi Outcast games. The lastest game in the franchise, Jedi Academy, hit stores way back in 2002, so a new entry in the series would be well overdue.
Of course, a new Dark Forces title isn't the only possbility, albeit the most obvious one. LucasArts might be reviving Battlefront III, whose fate remains unkown following the closure of developer Pandemic back in 2009. There's also a chance they're revisiting their 1997 cult classic Outlaws or developing an entirely new IP. Only time will tell.
Special thanks to NeoGAF user cuyahoga, who first spotted the listings.
