GTA 5 Gets 50% Discount For PS5 And Xbox Series S/X

March 7, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

Great news for owners of the current-generation Playstation and Xbox consoles. The much-anticipated updated version of GTA 5 is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series S/X with a pretty sweet discount of 50% off at release. The new version of the much-loved game is due to launch on March 15th. This was after the game’s launch for current-gen consoles was delayed from November last year. Players will be pleased to know that aside from saving themselves 50% off the launch price, the latest version of GTA 5 also includes access to Grand Theft Auto Online, as was the case with prior versions for Xbox and Playstation. Both games will also be released as standalone versions though, if players prefer to simply purchase one or the other.

Although there’s no official word yet on what the actual price of the game will be at launch, a 50% discount is going to be pretty attractive to current-gen console owners who are keen to see the streets of Los Santos in its fully upgraded graphical glory. Details for pre-orders in Australia are already available, so it shouldn’t be much longer until the rest of the world gets an idea of the updated GTA 5‘s price. Additionally, Rockstar has also said that for the first three months from launch, Grand Theft Auto Online will be available for free for PS5 players.

If the appeal of half off the launch price wasn’t enough, Rockstar has revealed that the latest version of the game will feature three different graphics modes. For the highest-level visuals, the game features Fidelity Mode, which targets 30FPS and supports native 4k resolution with ray tracing enabled for PS5 and Xbox Series X. For Xbox Series S, it supports upscaled 4K resolution. There’s also Performance Mode, which targets 60FPS and is designed to offer the most responsive experience. Interestingly, players will also be able to access a Performance RT Mode, which aims to combine both Fidelity and Performance by supporting upscaled 4k on the PS5 and Series X, and a 1080p resolution on the Series S.
