Galactic Civilizations 3 Adds Steam Workshop Support, Map Pack DLC

July 10, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

The map pack is free for Galactic Civilizations 3 Elite Founders.

Steam Workshop support has come to Galactic Civilizations 3 via a 1.1 update, developer Stardock announced.

The update gives players the ability to place their custom ship and map designs on the Steam Workshop marketplace for others to download and use free of charge.

“The ability to create custom factions and design your own ships was always core to Galactic Civilizations 3. Now players can easily share their creations so that each universe is unique,” said Stardock’s VP of entertainment Derek Paxton. “There are already over 400 factions and ships available for free download on Steam Workshop, created by Stardock or the Galactic Civilizations 3 community. You can download and play as Ghosts of Abbadon, who have ruined their home world and are setting out to find another, or download the terrifying Drengin World Eater ship.”

Stardock also released a new map pack for Galactic Civilizations 3, featuring eight new maps: Six Pillars, Clash, Snowflake, Core, Joust, Quadrants, and Round table. The maps range from 2-18 player-sized maps. The DLC also comes with a map editor so players can create their own scenarios. It is free for Galactic Civilizations 3 Elite Founders and $4.99 for other players.

Galactic Civilizations 3 was announced in 2013 and released for PC in May 2015.
