Original Story: EA Sports has revealed that Barcelona captain Lionel Messi will once again be appearing on the front cover of this year's FIFA, with new Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson joining him.
As was to be expected, it seems only Liverpool fans are happy with the selection. FIFA games usually offer different players on the cover in different regions, and FIFA 16 is no different as Henderson was the winner of a UK vote. In other regions, these are the cover stars:
- Australia: Stephanie Catley and one additional player who will be revealed on August 13th
- Mexico – Marco Fabián
- France: Antoine Griezmann
- Latin America: Juan Cuadrado
- Japan: Shinji Kagawa
- Global Cover: Lionel Messi
This is the first year the game has added women teams, leading some to wonder whether EA would offer a woman player on the cover, but it seems that isn't the case except for Australia. Down Under, Stephanie Catley won the vote but will share the cover with Messi and an additional player.
EA is making some significant changes to defence along with other aspects of the game, details of which you can find here.
FIFA 16 is set for release on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 25th.
