Back 4 Blood: Tunnels of Terror First Expansion Announced

March 1, 2022 by Matt Cook

Get cleaning!

Back 4 Blood developer Turtle Rock Studios has announced the first expansion for last year’s hit zombie game. The new expansion, entitled Tunnels of Terror, brings a bunch of new content to the game. Headlining the expansion are two new cleaners, Sharice and Heng. There are also three new warped ridden, eight new skins, a new PvE activity, and new weapons.

There’s not much info on Ridden Hives, the new PvE activity, just yet but new modes are always a welcome addition for players. There will be over 18 new cards for players to utilize in the new update along with new legendary weapons and attachments. There will also be new warped chests and skull totems.

The skins included in the expansion look to be various takes on hazmat suits, the kind that might be seen used for radiation. The new warped-ridden are also sure to excite players. Again, details on the new ridden haven’t been revealed aside from the names, Ripper, Shredder, and Urchin. Hopefully, they spice up gameplay for long-time players.

Tunnels of Terror will be released on April 12, 2022. Pricing for the expansion has not been revealed at this time. However, the year one annual pass for Back 4 Blood is currently $39.99. That includes the first 3 major expansions, with Tunnels of Terror being the first, so expect pricing to be somewhere in the region of 1/3rd the annual pass price.

Back 4 Blood was a huge success when it was released last year. The game went to Xbox Game Pass on day one and reached over 6 million players within its first few weeks. Although player numbers have dropped since then, Turtle Rock Studios will be hoping that the Back 4 Blood Tunnels of Terror expansion pulls players back in.

Stay tuned for more Tunnels of Terror info as Turtle Rock reveals it.
