Warner Bros. released the second trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore today. The short feature reveals even more of Jude Law’s Dumbledore as he teams up with Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander and his muggle friend Dan Fogler’s Jacob Kowalski. The third installment to the Fantastic Beasts franchise looks like it will have the iconic Headmaster of Hogwarts take center stage and revealed more about his past than what was previously known. Check out the exciting new trailer below.
The trailer of course brings back the series hero Newt Scamander, as well as shows that Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will focus on the growing tension between Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald. Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal, Doctor Strange), who has replaced Johnny Depp as the villainous wizard, is seen in an epic duel against Dumbledore. The upcoming film looks like it will be filled with scenes of wizards against wizards and continue the mysterious story of Credence Barebone. The new trailer intriguingly shows that he and Dumbledore will not be under the best of terms, with one scene showing the headmaster nearly pinning down Credence.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore was originally due to release in November 2021 but was delayed to April 2022. The threequel has seen David Yates return to direct after working in the same role on four Harry Potter films and the last two Fantastic Beasts movies. The franchise seems to be in good hands with Yates. J.K. Rowling has also returned to co-write the movie with Steve Kloves.
Several details about the film’s plot are still a mystery. However, it is known that besides developing the complexities of Grindelwald and Dumbledore’s relationship, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will further explore how the wizarding world fared during World War II.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will officially release in theaters everywhere on April 15, 2022.
