Developer Aksys Games announced a new entry in the Zero Escape series titled Zero Escape Volume 3 today.
Aksys Games is aiming for a summer 2016 release on the Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita. It promises to have “familiar faces,” fully voiced cinematics, multiple endings, and full voice over work done in English and Japanese.
Zero Escape Volume 3 is a direct sequel to 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors and Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward. While previous games in the series have been localized for English-speaking audiences following development and release of their Japanese counterparts, the localized version of Zero Escape Volume 3 is in development simultaneously with the Japanese version.
Earlier this year, a website called 4infinity was discovered that seemed to be teasing an announcement on July 3, 2015, despite series creator Kotaro Uchikoshi saying that a third Zero Escape game was on hiatus due to lack of funding and interest in Japan. It would appear Zero Escape Volume 3 is that announcement and fans can stop speculating on whether another Zero Escape game would be made and instead speculate on what the game will be about.
