Batman: Arkham Knight First PC Patch Now Available, Fixes Numerous Bugs

June 27, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

The first patch for Batman: Arkham Knight alleviates a number of major issues with the game.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Rocksteady have just put out a patch for the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight, which fixes various issues with the game that were plaguing it since its release earlier this week.

Among the issues fixed is a bug that disabled rain effects and ambient occlusion from displaying properly. Also fixed is a horrible issue that caused Steam to redownload the game when verifying the integirty of the game's cache through the Steam client.

Interestingly, the game's developers have taken note of PC gamer attempts to modify the game's configuration outside of the game itself and have fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when gamers disabled Motion Blur within the BmSystemSettings.ini file.

They've noted that a future patch for Batman: Arkham Knight will be released to enable features like Motion Blur within the graphics settings menu, among other things.

Here's what it does, in full:

  • Fixed a crash that was happening for some users when exiting the game
  • Fixed a bug which disabled rain effects and ambient occlusion. We are actively looking into fixing other bugs to improve this further
  • Corrected an issue that was causing Steam to re-download the game when verifying the integrity of the game cache through the Steam client
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when turning off Motion Blur in BmSystemSettings.ini. A future patch will enable this in the graphics settings menu

"Rocksteady is leading our team of developers and partners as we work on the PC performance issues that players have been encountering," Warner Bros. said. "The work is significant and while we are making good progress on improving performance, it will take some time to ensure that we get the right fixes in place "

Here's what they plan to bring to the PC version of the game in the coming days:

  • Support for frame rates above 30FPS in the graphics settings menu

  • Fix for low resolution texture bug

  • Improve overall performance and framerate hitches

  • Add more options to the graphics settings menu

  • Improvements to hard drive streaming and hitches

  • Address full screen rendering bug on gaming laptop

  • Improvements to system memory and VRAM usage

  • NVIDIA SLI bug fixes

  • Enabling AMD Crossfire

  • NVIDIA and AMD updated drivers

The current patch is available on Steam to download automatically, provided you have the game installed. The game's community manager says they will continue to release more patches as the developers continue to work on improving performance issues.
