Destiny’s newest expansion, The Taken King, has met with some controversy. The prohibitive pricing has left a bad taste in some players’ mouths, but Red Bull has just announced a collaboration that might help wash that taste out.
Red Bull is partnering up with Bungie and Activision to bring you some exclusive stuff for Destiny. First, they’re giving out bonus XP in the form of the Focused Light XP buff, which will act as Red Bull for your character and increase the XP you gain by 50% for a 30-minute period. You can get the Destiny-marked Red Bull cans exclusively in 7-Eleven stores starting July, and redeem the codes until July 31, 2016.
The second Red Bull exclusive is a new quest which will become available upon the launch of the new expansion pack. According to the promo's website, this new quest will feature a “never-before-seen, multi-stage mission in The Taken King that will test the speed and strategic abilities of Destiny players in new ways.”
The game’s creative director Luke Smith has defended the new expansion pack’s pricing, stating that the team is “comfortable with the value we’re giving to players this autumn.” Perhaps this Red Bull tie-up is part of that value? Do you think this new quest is going to help the new expansion’s image, or does it sound like a load of (Red) Bull and they’re digging this game’s grave deeper? Let us know in the comments.
Destiny: The Taken King and the Red Bull exclusive quest will be available beginning September 15th.
