Horizon Forbidden West Cinematic Trailer Revealed

February 11, 2022 by Carley Garcia

Only one more week to go.

Nearly five years have passed since the release of Horizon Zero Dawn on February 28, 2017. The title remains one of the most impressive of the PlayStation 4 generation, and the long-awaited sequel is only one lone week away. Horizon Forbidden West will build and improve upon an already solid world, allowing players more ways to fight, more monsters to slay, and more characters to meet across a vast expanse. Ahead of this exciting day, the official PlayStation YouTube account has posted a 1-minute long cinematic trailer as the cherry on top.

Check out the breathtaking video below:

In a PlayStation blog post highlighting the new trailer, Guerrilla’s Studio Director & Executive Producer Angie Smets notes that those who pre-ordered a digital copy will be able to preload it on PS4 and PS5 starting today. She also mentions that as of November 28, 2021, Horizon Zero Dawn has sold an incredible 20 million units worldwide across PlayStation 4 and PC combined. Players have spent more than 1 billion hours in the game.

Yesterday, Guerrilla Games detailed the game’s numerous accessibility options and difficulty modes in a lengthy blog post. Horizon Forbidden West will include five difficulty settings, spamming from Story Mode to Very Hard. It will also introduce the Custom Difficulty setting, which will allow players to adjust damage levels that Aloy deals and receives to/from enemies, allowing for more flexibility in adjusting combat difficulty. Players can fully remap gameplay controls, and while the PlayStation 5 version makes use of the adaptive triggers and vibrations, these can also be fine-tuned or turned off.

Horizon Forbidden West will be released on February 18, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Those purchasing the game might want to clear out some space first, as a report made in December lists Forbidden West‘s file size as a whopping 96.4GB–before the day one patch. The new title will be around the same length as Horizon Zero Dawn.
