Crystal Dynamics revealed the first ever gameplay footage of its upcoming title, Rise of the Tomb Raider at Microsoft's Xbox E3 2015 live presentation today.
Players once again take on the role of Lara Croft as she scales mountains (replete with proper equipment) and dodges an avalanche. Lara and her companion Jonah are in search of a lost ancient city hidden within the mountains.
The footage begins with Lara and her companion walking through a cavern lit only by the light of her flare, before emerging on a mountainside in the midst of a snowstorm. After a bit of scaling, a freak lightning storm occurs and its blasts cause an avalanche that Lara has to then deal with if she and her friend are to survive.
Ascending to the top of a cliff, Lara manages to catch a glimpse of the fabled city before she's thrown from the mountain and hanging by a thread held by Jonah. She swings to the rock face and manages to regain her footing before the avalanche forces her to make a run for it.
Lara can be seen jumping from crag to crag, avoiding pitfalls and eventually zipling her way down to who-knows-where before the gameplay fades into a trailer featuring scenes from the rest of the game.
The game is slated for release in Holiday 2015 for the Xbox One.
