Halo Infinite Players Complain About Slow UI Glitch

January 18, 2022 by Carley Garcia

The issue can be seen on both the PC and Xbox One versions of the game.

Halo Infinite has received largely positive reviews from critics and audiences alike since its release, but that doesn’t mean that the 343 Industries title is free from issues. Despite the game’s multiplayer being a win for the company, players took to social media early in the title’s lifespan to complain about the lack of Slayer mode and other personal gripes. This, as is so often the case, led to Halo Infinite‘s subreddit being temporarily locked due to toxicity. A recent problem is more tangible, spreading to both the PC and Xbox One versions of Infinite.

Social media has been alight with players complaining about the game’s UI moving at extremely slow speeds. Reddit user HavenElric was the first to address the problem, and many others immediately chimed in, claiming that the UI was taking a while to load in–if it loaded at all. Sitting at over 4,500 upvotes, it’s safe to say that this problem is widespread, and something 343 needs to address immediately. One user stated that it took a “solid three minutes” for the UI to load and allow him to play.

Those reporting no problems with the UI seem to be using a computer with an SSD rather than an HDD. However, the problem has spread to those on Xbox One as well–and while three-minute load times seem to be the minority, many console players are waiting for between 20 and 80 seconds for the screen to load. It’s unclear whether any players on the Xbox Series X/S have run into the same problem.

Yesterday, Jerry Hook, the head of design at 343 Industries, announced that Halo Infinite‘s cosmetics would be getting cheaper. “We are focused on reducing pricing across the board, providing stronger values in our bundles, starting to put individual items outside of bundles, and more,” he said on Twitter.

Halo Infinite is available to play on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
