Platinum Games will be revealing an unannounced game this coming E3.
Platinum has shared no clue on this upcoming game at all, and given last year’s reveal for Scalebound, it’s all completely up in the air what the game could possibly be.
This is because Scalebound is a slight change of pace from Platinum’s usually gameplay focused action games. While there’s no doubt tight gameplay mechanics remain, Scalebound will have more in common with Monster Hunter than Bayonetta. If Platinum is willing to change things up like this, they could conceivably try anything with their next game.
On the other hand, rumors have been swirling of other potential games Platinum could do next as well. Chief among those is Metal Gear Rising 2, which many anticipated to have been announced to come to PlayStation 4, possibly as an exclusive. Disappointingly, that highly anticipated announcement, which people expected at the Taipei Games Show last February, did not happen during the event at all.
Of course, in between, we learned about the changing relationship between Konami and its most famous developer, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima. Metal Gear Rising 2 may have been planned then, with its future up in the air, and recently cleared now.
But then again, we did just confirm from Del Toro that Silent Hills was a no go, so this may be disproportionately optimistic speculation.
There is of course always the possibility Platinum is working with Nintendo again, since they own a Platinum IP in The Wonderful 101, and have publishing rights to Bayonetta 2.
Will this unannounced game be an Xbox One exclusive like Scalebound? Will it be the long rumored Metal Gear Rising 2?
