It’s no secret that the internet pretty much went crazy over the Fallout 4 teaser alone, but we don’t think anyone was ready for how much crazier it would be when it was actually announced. Fans probably had a little heart attack when the website for the game went live a little earlier than it was supposed to. As of this writing, the trailer has been viewed over 3.9 million times on YouTube.
Should it come as a surprise that the announcement of a new Fallout game alone was enough to send fans out to purchase Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas by droves? Right now, there’s no way to tell if everyone who purchased the two titles are new to the franchise and are trying to catch up before Fallout 4 is launched. There’s a pretty good chance that a significant portion of the buyers who drove the older titles as high as 6th place on the Amazon Movers and Shakers chart could also be players going back to old favorites.
This spike in sales bodes well for Bethesda’s newest entry in the Fallout series, speaking volumes of the community’s reception, even if they had to wait five years for it. Did you buy the older titles as well, or did you keep your copies all this time? Most importantly, have you pre-ordered your copy of Fallout 4 yet?
Fallout 4’s unconfirmed release date is October 23, according to Gamestop Italy. Other retailers are playing it safe and have put December 31 as a placeholder. Perhaps Bethesda will clear things up at their E3 press conference next Sunday?
