Splatoon has got a lot going for it right now. It’s a pick-up-and-play type of game that could be called a cuter version of Call of Duty, and the developers have made no secret of their opinion that the game holds E-sports potential. It’s so popular that Nintendo actually apologized for the game getting sold out so fast in Japan. When you’ve got something this good, ridiculous things are also bound to happen, like having your truck full of Splatoon Special Edition hijacked.
The game offers plenty of character customization choices, but what some fans have been asking for is a Splatoon xSquid Girl collaboration. Her aesthetic will definitely lend itself well to the game, if you ask us. Nintendo has acknowledged this request and has confirmed that there will be a DLC costume based on the manga appearance of Ika Musume (Squid Girl). It’s set to be part of a free update that will drop in August.
Slightly sad news: It’s only confirmed for Japan. Fans online have been asking for it to be made available to other regions as well. We join the rest of the fans in hoping that Nintendo will spread the Squid Girl love.
Have you picked up your copy of Splatoon yet? Or are you still waiting for more cuteness to be confirmed before jumping in?
