Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories is a new mainline Harvest Moon title in development and will be released on Wii U, PC, iOS, and Android, developer Natsume announced Tuesday.
Seeds of Memories takes its name from a new in-game unlockable item that players can unlock by befriending villagers in the town. This can be accomplished through a variety of ways, “such as giving a villager their favorite item, catching a giant fish, or by raising their first cow.” Presumably, these special seeds will be used on the player’s farm.
In the next entry of the long-running, cartoon-style farming simulation game, players will once again be tasked with owning and operating a farm filled with animals to raise and crops to harvest. Natsume says that some of the returning animals on the farming will include “cows, sheep, chickens, a horse to ride, and a dog to keep as a pet.” New to the series will be the bobcat, which is described as an animal that players can own, but one that “starts out wild.” Players must then work to tame and befriend the bobcat over the course of the game.
As per usual, players will be able to do more than befriend a local villager. Seeds of Memories will include “5 bachelors and 5 bachelorettes” as “one of ten marriage candidates” for the player to engage with in hopes of making “their farming life complete.” We have reached out to Natsume to find out whether players will be able to choose the gender of their character and if homosexual relationships are an option in the game. We will be sure to provide an update when if we hear back.
Seeds of Memories will be shown off at this year’s E3, so be sure to check back here for more coverage on Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories and all other E3 announcements.
