Dr. Mario is on his way to the Nintendo 3DS in the next entry for the series titled Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure, Nintendo announced in a Nintendo Direct Monday.
The game will feature the tried-and-true Dr. Mario gameplay of dropping medicinal pill-shaped objects into a bottle and arrange them ala Tetris-style. However, the staple gameplay feature that Miracle Cure refers to is a meter on the right side of the player’s screen that will gradually fill up. Once full, players can activate the Miracle Cure for a variety of effects, such as eliminating capsules or viruses of the same color, delete entire rows or columns, or drop a bomb to eliminate surrounding capsules and viruses.
Dr. Luigi will also be featured in the game with his own mode, wherein players fire L-shaped capsules. Other features announced for Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure also include local and online multiplayer with new in-game medicine and download play, which will allow players with a copy of the game to effectively share that copy with another local player to engage in multiplayer and co-op modes.
Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure is now available for pre-purchase only on the Nintendo 3DS eShop and will release on June 11.
