XCOM 2 is to be released this November, exclusively for PC, IGN reports.
The game is a sequel to October 2012's well regarded turn based strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which was released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in addition to PC. Feral Interactive is porting XCOM 2 to Linux and Mac.
XCOM 2 is in development at Civilization and Enemy Unknown studio Firaxis and is the game publisher 2K Games teased last week as 'Advent'. The game's first trailer is included above, and shows a covert XCOM team fighting back against the aliens which have invaded earth and installed a puppet government known as the Advent.
Set 20 years after the events of Enemy Unknown, XCOM 2 adds new enemies and includes an overhauled class system and customisation options. Mod support and procedural levels are also confirmed features.
"The feedback from the passionate XCOM community played an important role in the development of XCOM 2, driving us to push the visual, gameplay and replayability boundaries of what a strategy game can be," designer Jake Solomon commented in the official announcement.
IGN has also confirmed that first gameplay will be revealed at E3 in two weeks.
