Overwatch’s Symmetra is The Game’s Engineer Class

May 29, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Symmetra plays a lot like TF2’s Engi.

Blizzard is releasing Overwatch videos at a steady rate, and today they've put out yet another gameplay video this time showcasing a new character named Symmetra, who specializes in turret emplacements and support.

The character may not look like an engineer, but she certainly plays a lot like Team Fortress 2's Engineer character class.

Symmetra comes equipped with a beam weapon that does more damage the longer it targets an enemy. She can also build turrets, buff allies with a shield, and construct teleporters.

Previous videos of Overwatch include Hanzo, McCree and Mercy.

Overwatch was announced on November 7, 2014 at BlizzCon and is known to be a repurposing of work done on the now-cancelled MMO Project Titan that had long been in development by Blizzard. A closed beta is scheduled for some time in 2015. You can sign up here for said beta.
