NEW CHALLENGER: Kazumi Mishima. We got a glimpse of this lady in the San Diego Comic Con 2014 trailer for Tekken 7 and got to know a bit more of her backstory. Her presence had been hinted at as far back as when the game was first revealed, so it’s not such a big surprise.
The reveal trailer implied that this would be the final battle. It featured a monologue by Kazumi, addressing an unknown stranger, several decades before Tekken 7 takes place. It is revealed here that Kazumi does, in fact, carry the Devil Gene. So far, she is the only confirmed female Tekken character to have it. She cannot control her powers, but she insists that she will stop Heihachi, even if it kills her. If she fails in this task, she leaves it up to Kazuya to finish the job.
Kazumi is the final boss of Tekken 7. The first round will be against her human form, and the second will be against her devil form. It’s worth noting that Devil Kazumi is only the second supernatural female final boss in the series, right after Unknown, but the first female boss in a canonical Tekken release (sorry, Jun). Her fighting style is Hachijou-style Karate, and she is also capable of summoning a tiger to help her in battle. This tiger can change to match Kazumi’s form, being a regular tiger when Kazumi is human, and becoming a white tiger to match Devil Kazumi.
Originally an unplayable boss, Kazumi has been added to the roster of time release characters, and is slated to drop on June 2.
