The release of Project CARS has been pushed back numerous times, even getting delayed back in March (moving from the original April 2 release to early May) though the game was already 99.9% finished because according to Slightly Mad studio head Ian Bell, they were “attending to small issues and bugs that have been tricky to anticipate.” SMS has a number of successful racing game franchises under their belt, including GTR, Need For Speed, BMW M3 Challenge, and Test Drive. Project CARS is their “grandest and most intricately detailed” project, meant to surpass its predecessors.
This dedication to getting as close to perfection as possible is admirable, but no game is ever completely bug-free at release, and patches are still occasionally needed.
