Some of you might recall Nuketown 2025, the short-lived map that got pulled from Black Ops 2 back in 2012. It was supposedly a reward for pre-ordering or purchasing the game on release day, but it disappeared soon after the end of the double XP weekend. Treyarch game director David Vonderhaar tweeted that it would still be available in custom games, though.
More recently, Vonderhaar responded to this tweet of a photo of Nuketown coupled with the caption, “Gone but not forgotten.” “Says who” were Vanderhaar’s words in his tweet. This heavily implies that we will have Nuketown in Black Ops 3. This is all we need to confirm, short of having them say it outright, after plenty of leaks and speculations about Nuketown’s presence in the game. With the game being set in the year 2065, we can probably expect a ton of new advancements and it won’t necessarily be exactly the same Nuketown that players are used to.
Will they pull the map from Black Ops 3 again after a specific time period? A lot of people weren’t very happy with the 2012 incident, so let’s hope they just let Nuketown 2065 stay. It sounds like a lot of people are missing it.
