Battlefield Hardline, the FPS by Visceral Games, DICE, and Electronic Arts, was released last March. Something this fresh shouldn’t need an expansion for a while, right?
Nah.
The developers have officially revealed that they’re dropping the Criminal Activity expansion as early as this June, and it will feature four brand new maps, a number of new weapons, two new vehicles, and 6 new masks, as well as an intense new game mode. The new maps you’ll be getting are: Code Blue, a swanky-looking nightlife area; The Beat, an unfriendly neighborhood; Black Friday, which appears to be a mall complex; and the Backwoods, a forested area that appears to have been in the early stages of industrialization.
In the trailer, it looks like this expansion is definitely going to be more intense. After the Battlefield Hardline release received mixed reviews with a bit of controversy to go with the cover art, too. They also failed to deliver the first premium event on time. That’s two strikes right there, hopefully Criminal Activity won’t count as the third. The expansion’s content appears to be pretty good, but we won’t know for sure until we actually get to play with it.
The cops think they own the streets, and it’s time to remind them who’s really the boss. You’ve got new – more destructible! – maps to move around in, so go out and have some fun. Criminal Activity will be available for early access in June 2015.
