EA Releases Teaser Image for Need for Speed

May 20, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Hints at collaboration with Speedhunters.

On Wednesday, Electronic Arts released a teaser image for their upcoming entry in the Need for Speed franchise. The image in question was shared across all of Need for Speed’s social media pages and was captioned: “Are you ready for the next chapter? #NFS”

The high-definition image shows the right side of a green car and slick, wet pavement in focus, and what appear to be streetlights in the background, out of focus, suggesting the shot was taken in a nighttime setting. Most importantly, the car’s front-right tire has the word “Speedhunters,” EA’s car culture community, written on it. This would suggest an involvement on their part, but that remains unconfirmed.

This image follows an announcement on Monday, May 18, on their Facebook page that EA would be pulling the wraps off of their next Need for Speed game on May 21. Whatever this new entry in the series ends up being, you can expect Gameranx to fill you in on all the details tomorrow when EA makes their official announcement.

Last year marked the first year without a new Need for Speed game in over a decade. In May 2014, EA made an announcement that it would be foregoing an entry in one of their annualized franchises until 2015 in order for the next Need for Speed to have and “extended development window.”

Check out Gameranx’s review of the last main entry in the Need for Speed series, Need for Speed: Rivals, from 2013 and be sure to check back tomorrow for details on EA’s announcement.
