The first look at Robert Kazinsky as Orgrim Doomhammer in the upcoming Warcraft movie, aptly titled Warcraft, has been released. This is the first time any material from the movie has been released to the public, aside from test footage that was screened behind closed doors a year ago.
“We were looking for someone who would be able to perform the gruffness, the humor, and the toughness of this character,” says director Duncan Jones to Wired.
Orgrim was brought to life by the work of Academy Award-winning motion picture visual effects company Industrial Light & Magic, also known for their work on The Avengers and its recently-released sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron, among many other titles.
“We’ve gone beyond the point where these are just creatures in movies,” Jones says. “We now have the technology and the ability to make new characters entirely.”
The fantasy flick based on Blizzard’s Warcraft franchise (most known for its MMO incarnation World of Warcraft), starring Ben Foster (Lone Survivor), Dominic Cooper (Need for Speed), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), and Toby Kebbell (RocknRolla) was set to be released March 11, 2016, but was delayed by Universal Pictures to June 10, 2016. The plot of the film centers on the initial encounters between the human and orc races of Blizzard’s fantasy setting, giving wake to the eventual clash between the titular Alliance and Horde factions.
