Both Sony and Microsoft recently brought out their latest generation video game console platforms into the marketplace. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S both arrived in November of 2020. It was quite the feat for both companies as the entire world was shut down. We were dealing with the height of the pandemic. Covid-19 put several lockdown orders in place, which made production and shipping difficult.
Then there is also the struggle when it comes to chips. Because chips are scarce, electronics are having a tough time getting produced. This has prompted companies to readjust their expectations of units being shipped and sold for the fiscal year. Since both console platforms launched, we haven’t seen these units available readily in stores. We’re still dealing with limited stock that instantly gets sold out when it’s available online.
Fortunately, there is a bit of a heads up in regards to what stores are offering restocks. November is a big shopping month because of the big sales. Black Friday brings out tons of customers looking for great deals, especially for the holiday season. As a result, Walmart will be holding sales and discounts this month. While we can’t expect a price cut on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S, we know Walmart will have a restock. Starting on November 22, restocks will happen for Xbox Series X/S and the PlayStation 5 platform.
According to their Black Friday advertisement page, the sale will happen at 7 PM ET online. This is only for when supplies last, and just like with past restocks, the supplies for these hot ticket items don’t last long. It’s going to be brutal getting units thanks to the holiday season. Hopefully, some of our viewers will get to secure a console, as we know the struggle is real out there. Of course, if you miss out on this restock, we’ll continue keeping our eyes out for any other restock announcements to come up.
