It’s not a surprise if you don’t recall Skull & Bones. This was a pirate-themed game in development over at Ubisoft. After first revealing the title back during E3 2017, Skull & Bones has been in limbo ever since. However, that might finally change here soon as a new report suggests Ubisoft’s internal team will soon enter beta testing.
The report comes from industry insider Tom Henderson. This reliable insider has touched on multiple video game franchises. Today, we’re finding out that Tom’s sources have claimed Skull & Bones internal beta happening soon. We don’t have any more information than that, but those waiting on the game will find this as good news. Again, it’s been a title that was first revealed several years ago. At this point, some fans might have assumed the game was dropped entirely.
While the initial reveal suggested a pirate-themed title centered around naval warfare, we’re unsure if that holds up today. Since the game has had some rough development cycles at Ubisoft, the gameplay might have changed up significantly. Regardless, if the internal testing continues, we could see Skull & Bones pop back up during 2022. For instance, we could see it showcased during one of Ubisoft’s stream presentations or E3.
For now, there’s nothing officially unveiled quite yet in regards to a Skull & Bones update. However, we imagine that quite a few fans would be interested in seeing just what all has happened with the IP since we last saw it. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer for the game in the video embedded above.
