We have some teasers on Call of Duty Black Ops 3’s Zombies content, based on a reliable source. The information was relayed to us on this video via BiblicalReaper, whom you can follow on YouTube here.
The source claims to be a new hire for Activision, who has not yet signed a contract with the company, but is already privy to some information thanks to some employee documents. The game is six months to release, so although some details may change, this is likely to be almost completely accurate.
Treyarch is using a new ranking system that has no prestige, instead running the gamut from 1 to 40. You gain your ranking as an accumulation of in-game actions, including kills, headshots, revives, perks, etc. Your experience is subtracted to from negative actions, missed revives, deaths, etc. Poor players, particularly griefers, will be easy to spot thanks to this system.
Level-ups do not affect the fundamentals of gameplay. Instead, they unlock emblems, and give very small but noticeable benefits, such as quicker revives and faster movement.
The disc will have four maps, described as locals:
Zeitgeist, set in steampunk Chicago, is a gateway to dreamlike imagery, from Samantha, the content’s narrator. She is injected with a serum and fall unconscious, and her dreams affect the map you play in. The playable characters here are Mad Men 60s masculine types, named Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, and Richtofen.
The 2nd map currently does not have a name, but is set in the Maxis mansion, and was previewed in the reveal trailer. You play Dr Maxis himself and three unnamed German scientists, using Samantha’s imagination to create tools to take out the zombies.
The 3rd map, also nameless for now, is set in a German village. The scientists will have moved uptown, and are contending with a Silent Hill like scenario. This will be the largest map in the game.
Finally, in the last map, Nile, the four original heroes return, but this time find themselves in the pyramids of Giza. This map will be filled with a lot of mystical references to ancient civilizations.
As for the plot itself, Treyarch has eschewed the overused virus scenario. This time, the zombies come about as a result of voodoo, with a mix of elements from Egyptian curses and mysticism, and perhaps even some space travel.
Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will be releasing on November 6 on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
