Sources that leaked the existence of Assassin's Creed Victory, later called Assassin's Creed Syndicate, to Kotaku, have revealed to the publication that players will be able to play as a female character within the upcoming game. The game is set to be officially revealed sometime this week, on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.
The game’s development was leaked last year after an insider revealed screenshots and details about the title, which is said to be set in Victorian-era London.
According to Kotaku, players will have access to two main characters: Jacob and Evie (the latter of whom is pictured above). They are siblings, and both of them are heavily influenced in the criminal underworld of Victorian London.
Evie won't be the first playable female hero within the Assassin's Creed series, but she's certainly the first female character to grace a 'main' entry in the series.
The studio developing the Assassin's Creed titles previously faced heavy criticism for making a remark about how animating a female character in Assassin's Creed Unity would have taken double the effort.
It's good to see Ubisoft make the effort to deliver a playable female protagonist this time around.
