It has come to light that Bethesda hired Guillermo Del Toro’s production company to make a Fallout 4 trailer.
3D freelance artist Luis Neves took contract work with Mirada Studios, and credited his LinkedIn CV to note that he worked on such a trailer for 4 months, from December 2014 to March this year. Luis has had prior experience working on cinematics for games, but the main takeaway isn’t Luis himself, but Mirada.
Mirada was co-founded by Del Toro, and works with several companies as a self described ‘studio designed for storytellers’. Among their latest work is the Pacific Rim prologue, Katy Perry’s Dark Horse music video, and a Mario Kart 8 commercial.
While this is not necessarily a full confirmation, it helps bolster the rumor that Fallout 4 will finally be revealed at this year’s E3. There are not many other reasons for Bethesda to hold their first press conference at the event.
Rumors also hint that Bethesda will have a 20 to 30 minute demo available at the event, and that they will also be revealing Dishonoured 2, although that may have been delayed.
Del Toro may or may not have been involved in making this trailer, but either way, it’s clear he already has some loose connections with the industry. Perhaps Bethesda could hire Del Toro to finally give him the video game project he’s always wanted? Maybe they’ve already been doing this behind closed doors?
