Limbo Developer Playdead Regains Full Control

August 31, 2011 by Gameranx Staff

Playdead has regained full control of their studio after the confirmation of the studio buying itself back from investors.

Playdead has bought itself back from investors following the financial success of Limbo.

Playdead Studios has bought itself back from its investors, which confirms the studio aquiring more financial success as the investors won't get a share. Investment bank GP Bullhound, who advised the sale, confirmed the news; Playdead is now completely owned by its founders, Arnt Jensen and Dino Patti, and the studio's management.

Platformer Limbo, which was released on Xbox Live first, saw releases on Steam, as well as the PlayStation Network in August.

Initially, Limbo was funded by Jensen and Patti, in addition to some help via the Danish government. Investors later came in and invested to expand the game's concept.
